Zirconia Crowns

Zirconia Crowns

  • Zirconia crowns are partially translucent similarly to natural enamel. Thus, they absorb part of the light while reflecting some of it. Thanks to this translucent quality, a look closest to a natural tooth may be achieved especially in front teeth restoration.
  • Zirconia crowns due to their partially translucent qualities have a depth and life-like form and provide a look closest to that of a natural tooth. Even the best crowns supported by metal present an unnatural and dull look because of the metal and white-coloured material covering it and present a serious aesthetic issue.
  • In the cases of gum recession, tooth restorations containing metal lead to grey-like look in the places where the tooth meets the gums; while in crowns not containing metal there is no such effect even when the gum recession occurs.
  • Due to lack of metal, it doesn’t lead to a creation of grey-coloured lines in the place where the restoration meets the gums.
  • Additionally, there is no risk of allergy associated with metal-based restorations containing nickel and other such elements.
  • Thanks to special types of cement used to attach zirconia crowns, they are strongly attached to teeth and have a more natural colour than other solutions available in the market.

All-ceramic crowns and bridges without metal support.

For teeth, which suffered a significant loss of material, normally metal-based prostheses in the form of crowns or bridges were produced while ensuring that the upper porcelain layer will not break.

However, nowadays, we tend to use prostheses, which do not include metal since it is less healthy and aesthetic than new-generation strengthened porcelain crowns and bridges. Only in exceptional cases, we provide solutions involving a metal foundation.

Natural teeth are partially translucent. As a result, the tooth has a lively and deep look. Porcelain crowns without metal foundations (fully ceramic) due to their similar translucent properties have a depth and liveliness, which gives them the closest resemblance to a real tooth.

Zirconia Crowns Advantages

  • While fully ceramic crowns have an aesthetic look closely resembling the natural tooth structure due to their translucency, even the best metal-based porcelain crowns have a dull and artificial look. Therefore, especially in front teeth, fully ceramic crowns are preferred.
  • Crowns containing metal in some light (disco, flash etc.) seem to not exist or give a look of a dark-coloured blank space. Fully ceramic crowns, however, react to light of any kind like natural teeth.
  • Crowns with the metal foundation are attached mechanically to the tooth. Fully ceramic crowns, however, are attached mechanically and chemically thanks to the use of adhesive cementation. As a result, they have a higher level of attachment than metal-based ones and it is harder to make them fall out.
  • No dark (purple) line is visible in the place where the crown touches the gums since they do not have a metal foundation. Hence, they bring a more aesthetic look.
  • Fully ceramic crowns remain aesthetic even in the case of gum recession, while crowns containing metal foundation develop a bad-looking look in such occurrences.
  • There is no risk of allergic reaction to metals such as nickel since they aren’t used as a foundation in fully ceramic crowns.

Bridges without metal support

They are obtained by putting pressure on or cutting the strengthened porcelain. They are chosen especially for front teeth due to their partial translucency.

Zirconia-based bridges without metal support

In this system, instead of metal foundation, a white-coloured zirconia composite is used. The biggest advantage of this system is providing a very aesthetic look to bridges positioned at the back of the mouth while being exceptionally strong at the same time.

The Prices of Zirconia Crowns

The prices of zirconia crowns in Trabzon are, as it happens in other regions of Black-Sea, based on the price list published by Turkish Association of Dentistry. It is common in Turkey to provide an instalment plan zirconia crowns-treatments since they are considered a long-lasting treatment.
